This is one of our newest single origin coffees - scored with an impressive 87+!

Guama Factory, a wet mill in the village of Guama, has been producing high quality coffee since 1974. This region’s rich volcanic and sandy soils make it ideal for growing coffee. 

Flowering usually happens between February and April, with the main harvest season running from October to December. Once harvested, the cherries are carefully sorted by hand to select only the best. They are then pulped and left to ferment overnight, therefore allowing the flavours to develop. After fermentation, the beans are washed, graded, and laid out to dry on raised beds for 8 to 14 days. To protect them from too much sun during the hottest part of the day — and moisture at night — the beans are covered with plastic sheets as they dry. 

It is a careful, hands-on process that brings out the best in every batch.

With tasting notes of berry and currants, black tea and dried fruits, brown sugar and molasses, this is a crisp and lively cup of coffee.

In the global coffee industry, coffees are rigorously cupped and graded by certified Q-Graders using the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) protocol. While standard specialty coffees score in the low 80s, an SCA 87+ rating signals an elite, competition-grade coffee. Kenya is already famous for producing some of the world's most dynamic coffees, but an 87+ lot represents the absolute best of the harvest. This score is a testament to perfect high-altitude growing conditions, meticulous sorting, and flawless processing, resulting in an exceptionally clean, intensely juicy, and multi-layered cup.
